Biography
I’m Dr. Yelena Oren, a licensed psychologist with over 17 years of experience supporting adults navigating stress, anxiety, insomnia, trauma, chronic health concerns, and other life challenges. In my Reno private practice, I combine compassionate, research-based care with individualized strategies to help clients understand the roots of their distress, build practical skills, and develop lasting resilience.
My approach emphasizes pacing that feels right for you and sustainable, so you can regain confidence, empowerment, and well-being in your everyday life. I’m passionate about helping people feel stronger, more centered, and more fully themselves while building tools for meaningful, lasting change.
Before opening my private practice in Reno, I contributed to research and public health initiatives with UCLA, the World Health Organization (WHO), RAND, and the VA, focusing on behavioral health, global health, and cancer prevention. These experiences inform my practice, blending science-based treatments with compassion and an understanding of how physical and emotional health intersect.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno, completing my pre-doctoral internship at the VA Sierra Nevada Healthcare System. I served nearly a decade as a staff psychologist at the Reno VA, gaining advanced certifications in insomnia, chronic pain, trauma, nightmares, tinnitus, and relationship skills. I also co-developed interdisciplinary programs for insomnia and tinnitus to improve accessible, coordinated care.
Alongside my clinical work, I’m committed to community mental health education and advocacy, working to reduce stigma, improve access to effective care, and help people find support for lasting well-being.
